I decided to spend twice as much and purchase higher-end speakers from another maker. The EONs sound very good but consumery for the money. An AB comparison with my upgraded speakers suggested you get what you pay for. The new speakers are a whole step up in sound quality from the JBLs.
Now I will be proud about my gear and my ears will be happy every day for the next ten years. Had two microphones attached. This speaker provided for individual volume control which made it convenient since all presenters had varying speech volume. Has bluetooth feature but not for streaming music, only controls. We perform at festivals on a regular basis, but do have to set up sound occasionally for local gigs. I used this speaker as a monitor 3 times.
It was adequate for the price. I plugged it in yesterday for a gig today and it sounded like a plane taking off. To get warranty work done, I have to drive miles or pay for shipping. The best part about these speakers is that a presenter can stand right next to them and there is no feedback. I've tested these while standing next to them and had to yell in order to get feedback. This was a great buy! I wanted a small system that had watts. I've used JBL passive speaker in the past and was please with the quality of construction and sound. These new EON speaker sounded fine but I noticed a glue blimish, like a glob that was left on the finish and removed taking the finish off with it. I could have lived with that, but I noticed that when I picked up the other speaker, there was a rattle in the cabinet, like something was loose I checked the other cabinet and sure enough there was also a rattle, not quite as bad as the other speaker, but something was loose inside!

I am thinking that the surge is more that that unit can handle.. I would dasy chain off the same signal and not use and modified or pre amplifeid to this already amplified unit.
