I use this gauge to monitor the water pressure from the output of a set of whole house filters. Works perfectly with no leaks and has nice big and bold numbers, graduated in 2 psi increments. My house water pressure is at 68 psi and when it gets to about 40 psi that tells me the filters are starting to clog up and it's time to change them.

Highly recommend this gauge and well worth the price! Only 2 left in stock - order soon. Replacement part for our wells pressure tank. Electrical knowledge is helpful but it is not difficult to install. Works perfect for our well. Only 2 left in stock more on the way. What can you say -- it's a pump switch. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. You must set air pressure a little lower than the cut in pressure.

If not the pressure will drop too much suddenly and the pump switch locks out. I have read instructions on these captive air tanks that say you should use the same pressure in the tank that the cut in pressure is.

But this is not allowing any tolerance for a switch like this. Cut in pressure must be a little higher than what air pressure in the tank is. Over time the air leaks out so the problem does come back, but when you have to add air I do it annually just be sure to set it when there is no water in it to about 28psi. This is if the switch is set to 30 which it is supposed to be and mine was pretty close. Finally no burned out pump from low water. Occasionally the aerator tank will not fill for various reasons and the house pump runs dry and burns out the seals. By changing to this device when pressure falls below 20 psi the pump will shut down, protecting from burn out.

Only downside is having to reset after power outage. A very minor inconvenience. Will cause more problems than it fixes.

If electric goes for even a few minutes someone must go outside to restart it. If you have a foot valve and no check valve the pump will not loose prime unless the well goes dry. Had they stated the side effects never would bought it. Simply put this is a bad idea. A heavy load could easily cause pressure at 30 to drop for minute to the shut off point. If it was set to go off at 3 to 5 lbs would be workable but still a pain to deal with.. Returning it, Sellers need to tell all the details to avoid returns. Thankfully we never installed. Why only 2 wires on pressure switch? | LawnSite

I have used 4 Square D switches at 3 home installations in 36 years. Directly connected to the well pump's volt supply line. This is the second pump control that I have used with well pump protection. If the well pressure drops below about 30 lbs the switch will shut the pump off to avoid the well going dry and destroying the pump.

Resetting the control requires manual activation of a lever on the pressure control so the owner is aware of a well level problem. This is a standard well service switch assembly. The switch was factory set to a very close tolerance, so no adjustment was necessary after installation. My only dislike is that there has been a change since the older models; this one has a lever that you have to use to hold the relay in the "On" position when starting from zero pressure- I don't recall having to do that with the old one ever. All in all, a solid product from Square D which functions reliably from day to day.

It's a decent quality pressure switch. I ordered this one as it has a low pressure cutoff. Every time I have had a blown fuse on the well pump I have had to replace my submersible pump. If the pump is v, it will have two hot lines. If the pump is v, it will only have one hot line.

Wiring Help On Pumptrol Pressure Switch

If the pump is submersible, then you will have your v line run to a control box, and then that will run 2,3 or 4 wires depending on the make and model of the pump out. Because of this, the pressure switch has extra lugs. Please don't mess with things you don't understand, you could cause the pump to short cycle by installing a miss-configured pressure switch, and then you will owe them a pump. Dirty Water , Mar 22, You may not be showing us everything, if there is another pump relay in the circuit. The idea behind always using both sides of a two-pole pressure switch is that the pump isn't 'live' when it isn't running.

Even if the installer is a dummy who mistakes hot for neutral.
