I was pleasantly surprised after the first bite, while sweet there was just a hint of sour too that actually offset the sweetness nicely and unlike the red Twizzlers they don't have that "almost plastic" feeling going on. The texture is very similar to the 'red rope' type of licorice as opposed to Twizzlers and the filling in the center which provide the fruit punch flavor does seem to have a very subtle sugary grit feeling but I assure you, unless your hyper sensitive, it's not a big deal. Kazooles are chewy much like a fresh piece of licorice should be, but I'd say it safe to assume it will not be pulling out any fillings like some chewy treats can.

If you have kids and or a sweet tooth, and like this kind of candy, I'd say it's a safe bet that you'll like Kazoozles. One more thing to mention, this review is based strictly on the Cherry Punch flavor and while I'm sure package size, freshness and texture should be similar, I currently have no idea how the Strawberry Watermelon flavor is.

As a note, if you tried a Kazoozle at one of the big chain movie theaters I point this out because the skinny "movie theater version" has little to no zippy core; instead the vast majority of the product is the red licorice exterior. Don't get me wrong, the red exterior is great Finally, the cost of the item here at Amazon is actually a better deal than what you would pay at a gas station or a supermarket if you could even find them. And as a final point, I must say that these "Cherry Punch" versions are WAY better than the other flavor that has the crystal sugar on the outside of the licorice exterior.

Truly though, the other flavors of Kazoozles don't even hold a candle to Cherry Punch! I love these ropes. I initially received them as a test product from another site. The 2 packages they sent me to test were not enough! Ever since I've been ordering these in bulk from Amazon.
