After buying one of those supposedly highly rated stainless steel braided ice connector hoses on Amazon, I was dealing with disgustingly tainted stale rubber hose taste in my water and ice, even after the water has gone through the filter in my new Samsung fridge. I thought this would be a temporary issue and figured the taste will go away after 2 weeks of usage, but unfortunately, that was not the case. Then I scoured through Amazon to find a replacement and I find several excellent review for the Whirlpool Pex hose.
The majority of the good reviews says this connector does not impart a foul taste to the water. Low and behold--the reviews are correct. I would skip the hassles of buying the stainless steel braided ones and just get this hose. Your tastebuds will thank you for it. Received this hose early and it was packaged perfectly.
Fittings attached without any problems at all. Make sure you follow instructions for installation since it looks fragile if over tightened. I also premeasured hose and used tape to fix length before installing. So no crimps or like that at all.

Style 2 Firmly pull up on the clasp. Then, pull the tubing out of the fitting. Reconnect the water dispenser tubing. Style 1 Insert the tubing into the fitting until it stops and the outer ring is touching the face of fitting. Style 2 Insert the tubing firmly into the fitting until it stops. Remove the base grille by removing the two screws, then pulling out on the outside corners. Disconnect the water tubing, located behind the base grille on the freezer door side.
The dispenser tubing runs through the door hinge.
Water Connection Style 1: Press the colored outer ring against the face of fitting and pull the water tubing free.
